For active seniors, the City of Reno offers a number of programs. Reno Senior Travelers is a way for seniors to tour local and regional attractions. These trips leave for the city's community centers and are guided by members of the Parks and Recreation. The Neil Road Recreation Center holds senior dances two times a month for a $5 fee. Brunch and a Movie is held on the first Thursday of each month. Seniors can work the land at Teglia's Paradise Park Community Garden by planting flowers and vegetables. Plots are $5 and are available on a first come, first serve basis.
Reno area attractions include the National Automobile Museum, the Nevada Museum of Art, the Nevada Shakespeare Company, Reno Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Wilbur May Arboretum and Botanical Garden. In addition, Reno has dozens of public parks, lakes and hiking trails to be explored.
