With a current population of approximately 750,000 seniors or approximately 12% of Arizona residents, the state is ranked right in the middle of the pack for availability of assisted living facilities, nursing homes and other senior living options. The senior population could spike in the coming years. With global warming (if you believe in it), the 8 million plus seniors in Florida and California may soon be searching for a safe retirement haven. They may be wanting to live where the weather is warm but not quite so life threatening.  Arizona seems like an excellent option because it has warm weather AND low humidity which can makes for great senior living.

North Carolina Independent And Assisted LivingThe cost of living index for Arizona is 105 compared to a national average of 100. Just slightly above the nationwide average, Arizona offers a lot of amenities at an average cost. With an excellent variety of outdoor recreational activities, the arts and entertainment, and many state-of-the-art health care facilities, Arizona is a great place for both independent and assisted living. Since many seniors enter an assisted living facility or nursing home after an unexpected health event such as an aneurysm, fall or stroke, many seniors prefer to live in an area that offers all the options (independent living, assisted living and nursing homes) all in one area.
