Although there are over 1.1 million senior citizens in New Jersey, the area is only ranked 39th for senior population in the United States. New Jersey is also ranked as the third most expensive place to live in the United States with an average cost of living index in 2007 equal to 127, it is an extremely expensive area to both retire in and to live in an 'assisted living' facility. This site was designed to be used in conjunction with other governmental sites to provide a complete picture about all the options available in New Jersey for assisted living facilities and nursing homes. Future expansion of the site will also include independent living and retirement communities. Our goal is to have reviews from actual 'assisted living' residents to help guide consumers in finding the best fit for their situation. We are also tabulating financial information about the costs at various facilities. This will allow consumers to shop and compare before they start visiting some of the local assisted living facilities. Wherever possible, we have included photos and other details about New Jersey assisted living options. This site is independent and is designed to make selecting an assisted living facility a less stressful experience. Moving into an assisted living facility is stressful enough, even if you know it is the best facility around. Knowledge is power and we hope that this site proves very useful in helping you compile a list of options for New Jersey facilities. We also recommend that you consider nursing homes and other senior living options as a backup options. Continuing Care is an excellent living option because it allows residents to move to greater or lesser care, based on their current health situation.
