There is no shortage of shopping and dining in downtown and at the Northgate and Valley Fair Shopping Centers, and if you cannot find what you are looking for in Appleton, the other Fox Cities are very close by.

Outside the city proper, active retirees have many outdoor opportunities to pursue. There is the North Shore Country Club for golfers, Thousand Island State Conservancy Area, Lake Winnebago, Lake Winneconne, Lake Butte des Morts, and the Hortonville Bog State Natural Area.
