Tupelo Memory Care (Alzheimer's & Dementia)

Tupelo Assisted Living - Senior Care Options

Most people want to maintain their independence as long as they can and to the degree that they're able. That's human nature. Assisted Living is the next step when seniors have lost some of their ability to live totally independently. Most assisted living facilities consist of a one or two bedroom apartments with bath and, sometimes, a small food preparation area. Here, seniors are able to keep some degree of independence while having their daily needs met, such as personal care and dispensation of medications, balanced meals, etc.

A big part of continued physical and mental health is "getting out and about." There are many points of interest in Tupelo. The Elvis Presley Birthplace and Museum is not quite a mile away from the center of the city. G. H. Booth's Hardware is also quite close and there you can "stand where Elvis stood and got his first guitar." The center of town is only 17 ½ miles from the Natchez Trace Parkway, which follows a Native American footpath from long ago. This is a very pleasant drive, with many scenic vistas and, in some places, ancient trees overarching the road. A bicycle path also follows the Trace. Car fanciers will enjoy the Tupelo Auto Museum and civil war buffs will want to visit the Tupelo National Battlefield. Animal lovers will enjoy driving through the Buffalo Park & Petting Zoo, where you'll see bison close up. The University of Mississippi has a satellite campus in Tupelo and there are 18 lovely parks in the city, comprising 529 acres.

There are many reasons for the elderly to consider assisted living in Tupelo, Miss. Availability of quality medical care is important to seniors, and Tupelo is justifiably proud of its North Mississippi Medical Center. This is the nation's largest non-metropolitan hospital, with 349 physicians within the system, covering 39 medical specialties. This hospital was the 2006 recipient of the Malcomb Baldridge National Quality Award. Seniors will be particularly interest in their Hearing Conservation Program and Pulmonary Function Testing.
