Logan Memory Care (Alzheimer's & Dementia)

The Best Logan Assisted Living

A Logan assisted living facility is a great home for those that want to combine affordability and a large set of options. Logan, UT, is a small city of under 50,000, though growing, that is located in the northern part of the state. Logan is the home to Utah State University and is part of the Logan metropolitan area of more than 125,000. In 2005 and 2007 the area was declared the safest in the whole country. The city is over 80 miles north of Salt Lake City and sits near the Logan River. Seniors will be able to enjoy the majestic Utah mountains and plains, the city’s vibrant arts and culture, lots of parks and outdoor recreation, and the city’s strong economic base. CNN Money named Logan the third best place to retire young in 2007 which reflects very well on Logan assisted living options.

Logan’s senior care costs are very reasonable. A private bedroom in an ALF costs $3,085 per month. Semi-private and private nursing home rooms cost $4,958 and $5,551 per month, respectively. These are both under the national average cost. The city boasts a low cost of living, which sits at 89.0 in the March 2012 cost of living index. The city, being the safest in the country by some standards, has an extremely low crime rate; the Logan city crime index is 75.0 while the national average is 319.1, meaning the city has more than four times less crime than the average U.S. city. Logan also has the region’s largest hospital, Logan Regional Hospital, which also provides the area’s most services. Logan Senior Centers take pride in their role in the community by cooking meals and providing transportation, classes, events and trips for the city’s senior citizens. The city has two centers; Cache County Senior Center and North Logan Senior Center.

Seniors will love the convenience of Logan’s Main Street. The street runs through the whole city, is very pedestrian friendly, and contains a multitude of shops, restaurants and businesses. The downtown area is full of historical and cultural points of interest that include the Logan Tabernacle, the Logan Utah Temple, and many places of historical significance to members of the Church of Latter-Day Saints. The northern part of Logan is concentrated with shops and restaurants as well, including Cache Valley Mall.

Logan hosts many cultural events and institutes. There is the Utah Festival Opera, the Ellen Eccles Theatre, the Summerfest Arts Faire, "Gallery Walks" by the Alliance for the Varied Arts, and a farmers’ market on each Saturday running from May thru October. The farmer’s market, the Cache Valley Gardeners’ Market in Merline Olsen Park, is noted as one of the best in the country.

Aside from Logan’s very well operated network of parks, its zoo, fairground and aquatic center, there are still many other opportunities for outdoor exploration. You can hike or camp at Logan Canyon, rock-climb, hunt and ski at Tony Grove Lake, and play golf at Logan River Golf Course and Logan Golf and Country Club. Outside the city seniors can visit the scenic Millville Face Wildlife Management Area, Hyrum State Park, and the Great Salt Lake, a bit of a drive to the southwest.
