Lewiston Assisted Living And Senior Living Services

Lewiston, Idaho has breathtaking views of Snake River from an elevation of 1400 ft. to 756 ft. below in the downtown area. There are over 31,500 people that reside here. Most are middle aged, but seniors make up 12% of the total. Due to increase in elderly care, the cost of assisted living facilities have rose 9% at a total of 48,300 per year. Actually, nursing home care has doubled, so the amount of assistance needed really matters here.

This beautiful city has very hot summers and mild to moderate winters which are great temperatures for most seniors. In the higher elevations, views of steamboats, ferries, and large vessels can be viewed with great detail as they enter and exit the Snake and Clearwater Rivers. It really curves with a snake like design that one just has to see to appreciate. The higher elevation is also known as the, "Fruit Orchards". There are still many fruit trees in the locals’ backyards, but years ago, the range was covered with fruit trees. The lower elevation harbors many events and holiday decorations for seniors to enjoy.

The Chamber of Congress in Lewiston sponsors the annual Christmas Festival in which the entire grounds are covered with sparkling lights and marvelous homemade decorations by most locals. The town really comes together for this event by placing a star on top of the ridge that burns bright. The Dogwood Arts Festivals are held in honor of the dogwood trees and the residents wait for the first breeze to see and smell the petals flowing through their town. Hot August Nights is a special event in which popular artists perform live in concert with music from the 50’s to the 80’s. They also hold a parade of classic cars called the Show and Shine.

Seniors need to remember or be reminded that life does not stop when they age. Preferences, goals and their overall well-being still have to be accommodated in order to have a great quality of life. Many assisted living facilities and home residential care companies ensure the quality of life by assisting the elderly with transportation, shopping, finances if needed and medications.
