When my mom needed to go to assisted living I was unprepared and did not do my research. Emeritus was affordable because they had semi- private rooms. After two years mom is now living elsewhere that is nice. Park Club by Emeritus is in a poor state of repair at all times. The grounds are dirty inside and out. The halls constantly smell of urine and full adult diapers. The administration is only concerned with covering their legal issues. The staff is the most uncaring group of people I have ever seen in a facility. I thought that everyplace was like Emeritus, but I found out few places are that bad. Do your research, visit the facility unannounced and just walk in. You will see chaos and pandemonium. Supervisors are unable to be found, nurse aides are sloppy and do not wear name tags (so you can't report them). I found medications in my mother's room that did not belong to her and were dangerous. This is a dementia unit folks! Residents walked around half naked, relieved themselves in the bushes and screamed in agony to no avail. It was more like a 1950's insane asylum than assisted living and memory care. I had been convionced by the staff that all facilities were the same. Don't believe that. I finally pulled mom out and found a nice place for her, but I am deeply sorry for those that remain in that horrible place.
