Alert! Residents Wandering Off!

A resident of Cedar Creek who has dementia and advanced Alzheimer was missing from the facility and nobody was aware of it! It was not until the Sheriff Department noticed the poor soul wandering along an extremely high traffic highway, did the administrator and staff of Cedar Creek even know that the resident was missing! That poor man could have gotten hit by a vehicle, or died from dehydration or a heat stroke. And to make it even worse, the Sheriff Officer was observed bringing the resident back to Cedar Creek by a state investigator who was there investigating Cedar Creek for other complaints. There are better assisted living facilities to put your loved ones, don?t risk their lives or put them in danger at Cedar Creek. Looking for more

After looking for several weeks I found a place that not only I was happy with but also fit my budget. I like the location as well. The staff always makes accommodations for me when i request a visit. We are very pleased with our choice.

Cedar Creek Life Center

I am so very happy that I placed my Mother here. We really searched Brevard County for an ALF that felt like home. The nursing staff is always helpful and greet me everytime they see my family and I visit the facility. The new activities director is a jewel. That has been a huge improvement for Cedar Creek. She really is a breath of fresh air for all of the residents. Keep up the work Cedar Creek.

Investigations

From the net. Passing it on as requested.

From the public report posted online by the state of Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) recent investigations against Cedar Creek Assisted Living; the Executive Director, Marketing Director, Director of Nursing, and many of the nursing staff were found suspect. The report of the deficiencies found is 26 pages long! This is very terrifying for the residents who are currently there. Please pass this information on, we must protect our elderly!

β€œFurther observation on 6/12/12 revealed room 117 had a hole in the ceiling with electrical wires that were exposed.”

β€œObservations of 6/12/12 and 6/13/12 at approximately 10 am noted that room 116 had strong smell of urine and the carpet was dirty”

β€œDuring medication review and narcotic count on the second day of the survey at approximately 2pm, two (2) staff stated they forgot to sign the narcotic sheets although they had given the residents the medications today.” β€œThe unlicensed staff stated she was not aware that she could not take the blood pressure and make a decision to give or hold the medications as the health care provider ordered”

Possible Questionable Ethics

Why is the Director of Marketing for Tender Touch Health Care always running around at this facility acting as if they are one of the staff members? Residents of Assisted Living Facilities have the right of choice to choose their homecare agencies for Physical Therapy or home nursing care, not have the facility choose the homecare agency for them because they may be scratching each other's back. Whatever happened to business ethics and conduct???

Say No to Cedar Creek

This place is not what it seems, Looks can be very deceiving here. It is a nice facility, but all the activities and services they tell you about while their trying to sell you the ALF life for your parents and grand parents is a lie. The residents just mope around all day, no interesting activities to keep them active, the Alzheimer and dementia residents are mixed in together with the normal functioning residents. The hands on care staff has no former training in healthcare, if an emergency arises, what can they do? Please think twice before you leave your parents and grandparents in a place like this. it looks good for presentation, and the sales people talk a good game, but just make frequent visits to see what is actually going on.

Don't Make My Mistake

I had to move my mother from this horrible place because she was NOT being taken cared for and she was very afraid of the nursing assistants there who she told me was always saying mean to her. I feared for her safety, I regret placing her there.
