Riggs Manor Retirement Community

Have two relatives living here in "independent" living. During covid they actually locked everyone down despite many of the independent residents having their own personal outside entrance and residents not being allowed to see visit other residents. Discouraged them from going to doctor's appointments and put them in isolation for 14 days for going to a doctor. Despite saying they have opened back up, the residents still can't come and go. They have limited their access to the building by deactivating their key to the doors. Residents must wait for a staff member to let them into their own building and if they come in later than 4 pm they are forced to walk from a side door. The staff has the habit of entering residents' apartments without waiting to be admitted. My family woke up several weeks ago to find a staff member standing at the foot of the bed, asking if they had company that had just left. My family says they feel like they are treated like they are at best wayward teenagers. The food is ok -good some days and some days they throw it away. Again they are very short staffed currently and this impacts the quality, My family really likes the dining room staff and the activities director is wonderful. They really enjoy the other residents when they are permitted to see them at lunch and I know they have made friends there and that is why they haven't moved yet.
