Berkeley Square

My experience in Berkeley Square Alzheimer's care was that instead of analyzing and attempting to correct behavior, they immediately send residents out to Senior Behavioral facilities. My husband was sent to one of these facilities three times in about ten weeks. It cost thousands of dollars on top of the continued cost of Berkeley Square and neither was covered by the Long Term Care Insurance. In the final episode, my husband was injured and bleeding from another resident attacking him, but my husband was the one sent out. That time I took him to a different behavior facility than the one recommended by Berkeley Square and was immediately told he belonged in Hospice. Berkeley Square staff and doctors missed his end stage dementia and need for Hospice. It appeared they never attempted to assess him. Previously they had given me another resident's complete HIPPA information when I asked for a report of my husband's medicines. When he was at the last behavioral facility, they moved another resident into his room without telling me. They stuffed all of my husbands belongings into plastic bags and piled them in a conference room. I found out only by going to the facility to pick up some shirts of his to launder and was told I couldn't go into the room because another resident was in it. I had a contract for that room, and the fee for the month had been paid. I was told there were bugs in some rooms and they had to move someone into his while they fumigated I had planned to bring him back until all of that happened. In addition. his laundry always smelled like urine. An aide said if I bought an expensive deodorizer, she would do his laundry with it, but it never improved. I did not take him back there when he was discharged from the behavioral facility. The next facility he lived in never had a problem with urine smell and immediately brought Hospice in to help take care of him. Because of my horrible experience, I would never recommend Berkeley Square for Memory Care.
