AVOID THIS FACILITY AT ALL COSTS!

Both my father and uncle had the misfortune of having to reside months at Royale Gardens, in 2017 and 2018 respectively. It was the only local facility with available beds, and we soon found out why (NO ONE WANTS TO STAY THERE.) The nursing staff are mostly nice and try their best, but EXTREMELY overloaded. Impossible to provide the care needed with their nurse/patient ratios. The administrative staff is ABOMINABLE. Even billing is obtuse and completely unclear -- you'll just get a large bill with no detail or coverage dates, and you'll receive it BEFORE it is even submitted to insurance for processing. Our insurance company specifically advised us to NOT pay any bill until they processed the claim first. High turnover of executive directors, and lower admin staff does not care. We had to be proactive to get anything taken care of, and even then the basic needs of patients were neglected or mishandled. Patient care was substandard in almost every way - our loves ones' personal hygiene was seriously neglected, and both men had significant health DECLINE instead of REHAB, until they were each moved to a different facility. RG staff even sent my dad to the hospital and we were not notified for THREE days! We made sure he did not return after that. But for my dad, it was too late -- the health damage was done. For my uncle, he was lucky enough to be re-located and showed dramatic and clear improvement in every way, in both his mental and physical health! My cousin used the term "borderline criminal" when referring to Royale Gardens in Grants Pass. As of summer 2019, they are undergoing more administrative staff changes (again) -- hopefully it will improve there, but I doubt it. Their problems are systemic.
