Resident & family reviews
As with most nursing centers, they have one assistant to large patient load. If you have someone to visit them, to ensure they get the help the need. They have one individual for about 15 patients who are bed ridden, unable to walk. Next, the Director of Rehab is only interested in protecting herself and covering her basis. She is very arrogant, no compassion, empathy, and lacks the emotional intelligence to work in such a place. You get more emotion and sensitivity from Ebineezer Scrooge. Social worker is no better and gives social workers a bad name. We asked for help and which came in the form a list. For what she does, you do not need a social worker, a secretary would do. She has no issues inconveniencing you but she will let you know when you inconvenience her. So if you have to deal with either -- good luck. They are of no assistance. Write everything down they tell you and record your discussions. They are good about denying. Ask directly, do not make assumptions. Fortunately, the Rehab staff is much more caring and attentive to the patient. The physical therapist is excellent. They have a great activities program, very engaging with patients. For nursing home food, the food is good and my mother enjoyed it. Nursing does the best they can. Myrna is an excellent nurse. While there are too few nursing assistants, they are very caring and respectful and doing the best they can. With the direct care, we are pleased even though I do agree with others who said there was lack of service. I know this is contradictory but with what we experience, we were okay plus Myrna was great - HOWEVER, we also had someone with my mom 5 hours a day (private duty) providing her the care she needed, and because of experience with my father in a home before he passed, we knew ahead what to get her...so most of what she had, we supplied. If you have a complicated situation where you need to work with the social worker and director of rehab. You would be better off keeping your loved one at home. Unfortunately, finding a good nursing home in El Paso is not easy, especially when so many of our seniors are low income.
