The purpose of Brazos Presbyterian Homes, Inc. is to provide lifetime service to the elderly in the form of quality living and care in a Christian environment. This purpose demands that the management practices reflect the highest standards in providing services on a sound not for profit financial basis, while allowing each resident to maintain an independent lifestyle for as long as possible at the highest level of personal dignity.

With 32 beds, The Hallmark is smaller than most nearby options, senior care communities in Houston average about 100 beds. Smaller communities often mean more consistent day-to-day staffing and a calmer environment, while larger ones may have more specialized services on site. Which suits a particular person depends on the level of care needed.

Federal reporting puts occupancy at about 68% of its licensed beds.

Medicare rates this community 5 out of 5 stars overall, a score based on health inspections, staffing levels and quality measures. Communities in Houston average about 2.9 stars. Its most recent standard health inspection was in January 2025 and recorded no deficiencies.

Resident & family reviews

I would not recommend this service to my worst enemy.

It's a shame that this facility has potential...but you would never know with the way it's being run right now.

Several of these reviews were written by current employees. Of course, the reviews are biased. There is a conflict of interest there, so the reviews shouldn't even remain posted. But anyway...

At the Hallmark, there are residents who've lived there for quite some time who can tell you what it was like before the current Hallmark leadership.

The facility now has too much concern for the "bottom line." Hallmark nurse aids are underpaid. There is chronic understaffing. Staff turn-over is way too high. So many things are in disarray because the leadership's attention is not on the right things.

The executive director is not well-liked by anyone. Most residents do not like her. This one is a bully. But this individual still remains there because...well, IDK why she's still there. Probably because the CEO's say overrules even those of the residents.

If a nice senior living facility is what your looking for, find someplace else. This one's going downhill, and quickly. Too many rooms are empty...and there's a reason for that.
