doesn't measure up.

In Texas, the laws for assisted living are very minimal. They tell you people are 'trained' and can recognize signs of UTI and can redirect folks who are confused with dementia. In reality, the training consists of maybe 4 hours to start and 4 hours a year and they don't recognize the symptoms of UTI, they don't feed a diabetic friendly diet, they don't work with the family, and any changes you try to implement get ignored. If the facility says it has a nurse, it may, but it doesn't have to keep one and it doesn't have to tell you when it quit keeping one. Also, there were some issues with the doctor thinking things had been done (and me thinking they were being done because the doctor recommended it) and they weren't being done.

all of this gets very messy when you involved the state.

They make people walk with a walker -- I assume for insurance purposes. This creates a hunched over frame which is not healthy. My relative collapsed due to dehydration. My relative's health was allowed to deteriorate. (moving has made an incredible improvement.) Unbeknownst to me, she was not being properly monitored. When I asked that certain tests be done, which I thought had been being done all along, I was made out to be the bad guy. The measure they seemed to use was 'Happy.'

While they have a good spiel, what they deliver doesn't measure up.

As for the 'B' side -- I would not recommend it to my worst enemy.
