Christus VNA Homecare San Antonio

Our experience with Christus Home Health began when my father was hospitalized and preferred to go home rather than to an outpatient rehab facility following his discharge. I began my search and spent a long time vetting and calling all the home health options around our surrounding area. From day one Christus have been so helpful with my father. His home health visits consisted of Speech, PT, OT, and Nursing. He was discharged from OT and PT and was able to focus on his weaker areas. The nurses that my father has had have been such a blessing and have helped us monitor his vitals, as his meds have changed after hospitalization.

Claudia, a speech therapist, has been a saving grace. She is clearly an empathetic person who truly cares about the growth of her clients. She has a fantastic personality and was always working towards the goals we had for my father, as well as his own. My father took really well to her presence each week and always looked forward to the time he had with her helping him to work on his speech. On one occasion, Claudia had caught my father while he was suffering from low oxygen on a routine scheduled visit. She sprang into action and called me and informed me of the need of medical care. Thankfully, she was there and able to relay this life threatening need and get him the help he needed urgently. She is the best trusted eyes I could have while aiming toward personal goals of grasping language and speech.

Jessica was the nurse that my father had the majority of the time, as we requested to keep the same person to help him neurologically grasp, without a need to reset with a new person each visit. Jessica and her involvement with my father really made a difference on his ability to keep striving to be independent. He told me after she left how much checking his vitals and her routine checks meant to him.

Brandy and Ani were those who performed evaluations after the nurse saw their patients after an extended period of time. Goals are always set and evaluations are in place to check the progress of the patient’s and families’ goals. They are both so very kind and communicate very well regarding the outcomes, keeping the family and patient abreast.

Robert within OT was a fantastic-spirited soul. He was with my father for a while, but discharged him as this program is meant to zero on the patient’s needs and my father’s needs of focus and help were speech and nursing. My dad loved Robert and enjoyed his company and felt energized after their visits. We did get to meet a rotation of sweet and highly recommended occupational therapists as well, including Carey Hicks and Karalee who also over saw the process after a certain amount of days for evaluations.

Overall, my father and I have had an exceptional experience allowing Christus Home Health into our home and hearts. Each character will be missed equally. The support they provided my father is irreplaceable. I know if anything happens in the future we will not hesitate to contact Wayne, the case manager, who has been so kind to help us navigate the care needed. Christus Home Health has a wonderful well respected and trusted team that whomever they send out, you can rest assured that they are certified and will follow all safety protocols during each visit. I can’t recommend anyone else after watching and advocating for my father to stay healthy. I have watched my father go in and out of outpatient rehabs due to health issues and he has always kept the same fantastic doctors, but without a team checking on your loved one like Christus Home Health these quick visit with providers don’t have as much substance. To have weeks worth of vitals to show my father’s primary and cardiologists has helped us determine the best care of meds and daily routines. My father’s improved health is a direct reflection of the care and amount of work they have put into him as their patient. As his daughter, advocate, and best friend, I can’t thank you all personally enough. I hope this personal testimony helps someone else who cares deeply about their loved one on their decision on who to allow in their home and to help.
