Resident & family reviews

Everything they promise is a lie.

I have to live with the guilt, for the rest of my life, for having taking my mother to Loyalton (now Emeritus) of Harrisonburg. They smile and greet you warmly, but once they have suckered you in it is just one battle after another. Every time you challenge them on something that is happening, they tighten the rules and visiting hours to make it difficult for you to visit your loved ones and know what kind of care they are getting. The directors treat the staff like they are dirt under their shoes, and don't respect their knowledge or abilities. They are more concerned about decorating the place for show, than they are in providing good nutrition or a clean environment for the residents to live in. For the residents in memory care, there is no organized activities that are appropriate for Dementia residents and they treat them like children. They will tell you how much they love and respect the residents, but I was there every day for over a year and I know better. They lied about everything, and not one of them had any specific training or personal experience in dealing with the Dementia/Alzheimer's residents. The knowledge they had was recited over and over, but was about 2 years out of date. None of them bothered to stay current. If you love and value your family, DON'T TAKE THEM TO THIS HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE PLACE. PLEASE>
