Country Villa Petaluma Healthcare Center

In March 2012 my mother-in-law was admitted to this facility (then called Windsor
Care, 523 Hayes Lane, Petaluma) after a 2-week stay in the hospital. The very
first night, she was overdosed with insulin by a nurse and ended up back in the
hospital ER. Fortunately, my husband (her son) had been there when the nurse
injected her, and was so concerned he went back later that night to check on
her. He's the one who found her in insulin shock, delirious and drifting in and out
of consciousness. HE called the EMTs - one of whom said "you have got to file a
complaint against this place!". The next day she was discharged by the hospital
back to the same facility - we IMMEDIATELY discharged her and took her home.
Whether for CYA purposes or as a matter of routine, the facility called Adult
Protective Services and a police officer showed up at our house the morning after
we'd gotten her home. After seeing her and hearing our story the officer
said, "You guys obviously didn't make a good decision, you made the RIGHT
decision." Fortunately, she's doing fine now and we have both filed complaints
against the facility with the Ombudsman and the State Dept of Public Health. In
my view, criminal charges would be too good for this place!
