I have been an RN for 30 years. While spending time visiting a
patient at this facility, I was extremely unhappy with the care my loved
one was receiving. He was able to LOCK himself in his bathroom, while
unstable and confused; and the nursing staff did not have a key. On
two occasions during a 3 hour visit, the nursing assistant had to find
someone who was able to pick the lock. The staff confessed to their
inability to provide good care because they were so short staffed.
Some of the staff were kind and tried to the best of their ability, to
care for the patients, but they were stretched too thin. This memory
unit was NOT LOCKED and my loved one's room was NEXT TO the
unlocked stairwell. The elevator was also unsecured. I believe this is
an unsafe situation.
