Resident & family reviews
This place needs to be shut down! I have had TWO horrible experiences with them! No I would NOT recommend this place to my worst enemy!!
1) In 2007 my Father was put there (thank you Hillcrest). We were told it was for rehab but when he arrived Grace put him in the nursing home section. He was placed in a room with a patient who was known for being violent with his roommates (according to several nurses); AND after 12 hours Grace still did not have an oxygen concentrator or the antibiotic required to treat his pneumonia. We finally got him out of there and was able to put him somewhere safer and better equipped.
2) The most recent experience with Grace was this April 2016. A family member was put there (thanks again to Hillcrest who keeps recommending this place) for rehab (we were told he would only be there for 7-10 days and then he would be strong enough to come home). After FIVE days Grace still had not done ANY rehab or even bothered to get him out of bed!! When I complained about the delay they told me that his insurance would pay for 100 days to which I replied that we had no intentions of leaving him in there for 100 days (but this demonstrates that they want to keep the patient as long as possible instead of trying to get the patient well & strong enough to return home as quickly as possible)! We finally had to go there & threaten to remove him before they decided to start physical therapy (which is why he was there). In the 2 1/2 weeks that Grace had him 1) they gave him insulin SEVERAL times and neglected to follow-up with food within an hour which caused his blood sugar to dip dangerously low. and 2) they failed to monitor his fluid intake & output which led to dehydration; kidneys shutting down; and an extremely high potassium level which put him in ICU at St John (no more Hillcrest for us).
