I'm a paramedic in Sequoyah County so I've had to run to this little shop of
horrors pretty regularly for the last few years. Now I must say that while most
people don't hold a very high opinion of the "nurses" employed in nursing homes,
this is the first nursing home where I've actually witnessed on more than one
occasion, the "nursing" staff do things that actually harm patients. Myself, my
colleagues, and the other nursing homes' staffs in the area have watched the
absolute bottom of the barrel nurses come into Sequoyah East and literally be
the cause of people's deaths. From watching patients with exacerbation of CHF
drown in their own fluid for 2 days before requesting emergency services to not
doing rounds and finding dead patients 12 hours after the fact, this place is
atrocious. Sequoyah East has to employ the least educated and most unwanted
staff in the country. It's almost like they just dragged people in off the
street, forged a nursing license for them, and set them loose. From an utter
lack of training to the complete apathy when it comes to patients, we've never
sen anything like it. Which would explain why they get destroyed during audit
time every year. You can see the multiple "quality care deficiencies" and
"assessment deficiencies" littered throughout their audits at
iqnursinghomes.com. I know myself and my colleagues write up incident reports
and submit them to the state pretty much every time we go in there.
Administration at the home seems content with letting these untrained,
unprofessional, and just generally.....dumb people masquerading as as "nurses"
run amok. Meanwhile, people are being mistreated, uncared for, and HURT on a
daily basis. Whoever issued these people a license and whoever issued the
"nurses" here their licenses should be ashamed of themselves.
