Rocky Mountain Care Clearfield

My mother has been residing at RMC Clearfield since August 2011.
She has experienced several obstacles with her care, the staff and
ultimately her recovering. My mother has been on a tracheal breathing
tube and has kidney failure. My mother has also contracted MRSA,
which has come and gone frequently during her stay at the facility.

RMC- Clearfield is the worst facility that I have seen. The staff does
abide by their "policies" that are given at admittance. The nutritional
staff does not understand physician orders as to a "renal" diet, means
no tomatoes, and food containing sodium.
The nursing staff do not follow orders very well and do not listen to the
patient's when they request to be taken to hospital for health care
that the facility is not providing.
The nursing staff fails to recognize serious condition symptoms such
as A-Fib, Heart Failure. They also do not take into consideration the
importance of contacting the patient's family or POA to advise of any
health status changes.
The facilities billing department lacks commitment to providing the
patient's family with any mailings that are sent to the facility. They
also take it upon themselves to contact Medicaid/Medicare to change
the status of the patient with their health insurance (Short term, long
term LTC stay). The facility also becomes the contact person from
Medicaid instead of the patient's POA. As a result, the patient has to
provide back-payment to the facility, which causes a hardship on the
patient and their family.
