Hyde Park Assisted Living

Manager is not a medical professional. No on-site medical professionals (no nurse, doctor, CNA, etc.) Some employees work without medical licenses. Lots of windows and sunlight. Residents are dressed at 6:30 AM for 8:00 AM breakfast.Food is good. Activity director is good. Aides are kind.

I worked at Hyde park Memory. They provide good care to the residents. But it is basic. It may be difficult to understand, however, most of the residents with advanced dementia are better served in a nursing home where there is an NURSE available 24 hrs. At Hyde park, there is no nurse. The owner is a nurse, but is not hands on. It is left to the aides (many who are NOT CNA) to notice illnesses such as UTI. Also, there are no "mechanical lifts" to safety transfer residents. The aides (again many not certified) do all the lifting of residents. This can be unsafe for both the resident and staff. Over all, it is a good, clean, safe place, however, if it were my parent with advanced dementia, I know they'd be safer in a nursing home with certified trained aides and nurses.
