York Street Personal Care Home Inc

My father went to live at York Street two years ago - suffering from a
neurological disease that affects him mentally and physically. His
health slowly began to deteriorate as the time went by. When he first
moved in, his rent was $1000/month, in which the owner would drive
him to the bank for him to withdraw the money. Without any of his
family's knowledge, his rent was raised by $400/month. His health
began to deteriorate. He started to not be able to control his bladder
and bowels. All of the workers at the facility would get very mad at him
for doing so. He would always tell us that they were mad at him and
yelled at him for having an accident. Every time we called him, they
would literally yell for him to come to the phone, even though he has
very poor equilibrium and is disabled. Also, during his stay, he
purchased a $1300 bed and mattress for the room that he stayed in.
It was brought to my attention that they no longer were able to take
care of him, so he was assessed and moved to a full time care facility
in the middle of the month. I asked if they were going to prorate his
rent for those two weeks. They gave me some lame answer about that
not being in his contract. I asked if it was in his contract to just raise
his rent without any of our knowledge. So, that money has not been
refunded. Also, after he moved, they kept his bed.

The "facility" is in not great shape. I don't know what they spend all of
their money on. I don't believe the workers are paid well, they are not
trained. They really are a PROFIT facility. It really seems like they are
only worried about money, not their residents.
