Resident & family reviews

Not as advertized

We live far away but need to place our elder in Portland due to recent
episodes of falls. So we paid a private agent in Portland city to make
serious inquiries and personally check-out Calaroga Terrace on our behalf.
This facility's claims of effective security, great meals, and Internet service
are untrue, and their practice of raising rent up to 04% a year
constitutes elder abuse against those relying on fixed income. Moreover,
our source advised us that informal interviews of residents and their
descendants revealed a general unhappiness and dissatisfaction with the
facility and bullish management.
And on a less important note, the recent decision to paint the building ship-
grey is a puzzle because the website photos show a warm, cheerful cream
color enhancing the brick exterior and leave us wondering why admin
would opt for a depressing façade.
Their publicity is deceitful and telling, leaving us unwilling to place our
loved-one in Calaroga Terrace though we had wanted to avoid a buy-in
retirement community.

Excellent Care

My mother moved into the assisted living portion of Calaroga Terrace about 6
months and I have been visiting her every week. I like that they combine
independent living and assisted living so there aare always activities. As she
heals after here stroke, she might want to move into the independent living so
they can continue to be with some of her new friends.
