Barkley Place

My mother has lived at Barkley Place for almost two years. I live close by so
have the opportunity to stop in often. The staff are warm and responsive to the
residents. I feel safe with her there and know that if she misses dinner,
someone will be looking for her. Most of the same staff has been there for the
whole time, indicating it's a nice place to work as well. The staff are very
patient and seem to really "know" the residents. The waitstaff are mostly
"young" people who are really sweet and cater to the residents requests. My Mom
has made many friends. She has also been in the hospital a few times. When she
returned to Barkley, it was so cool to see the residents coming up to give her a
big hug; she felt loved. Barkley Place has some fun activities such as "in
house" movies, trips to Publix/lunch out, and a recent fashion show. They are
always asking for resident input regarding food and activities. It may not be
as fancy as some of the places in town, but it's down to earth and like a true
home. I would highly recommend it if your budget allows.

Barkley welcomed my reluctant parents more than 4 years ago. Now,
we sing it's praises. We were initially concerned if a beloved staff
member moved on, but were thrilled to see the quality of
professionalism maintained. THE FOOD IS EXCELLENT! Who would
have imagined. The staff and management folks actually know the
names of the residents and greet them with smiles. The lobby was
just redecorated in a grand way. The Chase family loves Barkley
Place. On another point, being an attorney, I've occasionally
expressed concerns about pavement issues or water temperature. In
every instance, the potential safety issue has been resolved. The
management is amazingly responsive.
