Mount Arlington Senior Living

My mother was in this facility for 2 years. At the time it was
called "New Seasons". It is now called Mt. Arlington Assisted Living 5
star.<br>
Positive - <br>
Very clean facility<br>
nursing, facilities staff, etc. are very nice and caring<br>
They have a beautiful porch for residents to sit outside.<br>
It's at a convenient location next to a major highway.<br>

Negative <br>
Their sales pitch and advertisement doesn't hold up to what they
provide. They tend to drop services after the resident has moved in.
For example, the medication services was included in the price when
we signed up and then it was not included.
The transportation to doctors appointments were provided in the
beginning and then it was dropped. (They don't have a vehicle that
can accommodate wheelchairs or walkers which is 90% of the
residents).<br>
They put very little funds or effort into activities for the residents.
They do not really provide outside trips to Church, shopping,
restaurants, etc. When they do have something scheduled they do
not have procedure in place to remind the residents who are forgetful.
In addition, it is only open to residents that do not have a walker or
wheelchair.<br>
The meals are not nutritious, healthy, appetizing or appealing. They
do not provide special diets e.g. diabetics. I don't know how my
mother ate the food. When she first moved in they offered all kinds
of selections during the snack time e.g. cut vegetable, cheese &
crackers, desserts, meatballs, etc. Later..they just put out a bowl of
potato chips.<br>
They do not provide sliding scale for insulin dependent residents.
They keep eliminating the common areas where residents can sit with
friends and family members.
There is a staff shortage and a high turnover of employees.
They mix the dementia residents with the others and therefore, they
restrict all the residents from moving around freely.
If the resident needs something fixed in their apartment e.g. replace
light bulb, defrost freezer, fix leak, etc. it requires months of follow-up.
The physical therapy is very inconsistent and rarely provided.
They do not read or follow the doctor's orders when provided. I can go
on and on....I don't recommend this facility. We move my mother out.

If you put your loved one in this place, be prepared to get heavily
involved with their care.
