Although the website for this facility states that they have well trained
staff to deal with Alzheimer's patients they actually do not. My father
was placed here 10 days prior to my mother's death. The staff called
me to ask me what I wanted them to tell him about his wife. My family
was under the impression that the "trained" staff would be able to
help us to come up with ways to answer the many questions that may
arise. Another disappointment came after my father had been there
about one month. Another resident of the home had accused him at
dinner on a Tuesday night of stealing things from his room.....the aid
told the resident that that was not true. Nothing more was made of the
incident and the two men were allowed to dine at the same table the
next two evenings. On the Friday night there was an incident again
between the two men and my father ended up causing an injury to the
other resident. Within minutes we were summoned to the home
because they were evicting my father. I feel that if proper control of
the situation leading up to Friday night had been handled better, my
father never would have struck out in anger. My family was told that
evening that they had a few new employees that had not yet been
trained completely!!! I can't help but wonder what exactly we were
paying for??????
