Palm Coast is actually an ideal place for us senior citizens. The weather is very nice, most of the time. The temperatures are in mid-nineties during the heart of summer. Thank goodness for A.C.s and fans. Winters are a lot easier here, no snow to shovel. The average winter is only down around 46 degrees, most of the time. There is no state income tax in Florida and the sales tax rate is 7.0%. $30,000.00 homestead exemptions are available for those ages 65 and over by January 1st of the year the exemption is claimed and the annual household income are not over $27,030 after cost of living adjustments.
Palm Coast, Florida has many options for elderly folks who may need in home senior care, or senior care homes where they may choose independent living (they mostly care for themselves, but have others around, if needed). The senior may opt for assisted living, if there are some things they cannot do for themselves any longer. There are also senior apartments available there, where they can live independently, yet still have a social environment and activities. There are also nursing home facilities, for those who require it. There is no CCRC option available here, yet.
There is no shortage for seniors or the elderly activities in Palm Coast. There are many things to do here. Anyone familiar with Florida knows there is always a beach or lake within a short drive. Palm Coast is no exception. There is Palm Harbor Golf Club, The Bird of Paradise Nature Reserve and Lake. Central Park, at Town Center, is great for walking or jogging around and where main events are held here. Waterfront Park has a fishing pier, playground, and picnic area.
