Corpus Christi Assisted Living / Senior Living Options

Finding an assisted living facility in Corpus Christi is easy thanks to our database of nearly 20 housing options. You'll also find resident reviews, inspection reports and facility costs.

The Texas Department of Human Services licenses assisted living facilities as Personal Care Facilities. Only facilities with more than four residents require a license. Facilities are categorized as Type A, B, and E. Type A facilities only accept residents who are able to evacuate the premises unassisted and that don't require routine nighttime attendance. Type B facilities take residents who don't qualify for Type A facilities. Type E facilities are similar to Type As but are limited to 16 beds.

According to a recent survey by Genworth Financial, the average monthly cost for a one-bedroom in an assisted living facility in Texas is $2,548 compared to the Texas average of $3,210. The average for a semi-private nursing room home is $136 a day; private rooms average $190 a day. Combine these low rates with Corpus Christi's low overall cost of living--7% below the national average--and you have a very affordable city for seniors. The Lindale Senior Center, for example, has a library, billiards, table tennis, fitness classes, ceramics classes, and chair volleyball. The newly remodeled 2,000 square feet Broadmoor Senior Center has a community room, activity room, library/computer center and exercise room. If you want to get outside, try the Bay Trail, a hike and bike trail that runs along Oso Bay and through the wetland home of egrets, peregrine falcons, and brown pelicans among others.
