Jacksonville In-Home Care

Situated on the St. Johns River and 68 miles of Atlantic coastline, Jacksonville--Florida's most populous city--has many assisted living options for seniors. Whether you want to live near the beach, historic downtown, or in the suburbs, you’ll find a community that matches your lifestyle. And because Jacksonville has all the amenities of a large metropolitan, you’ll never run out of things to do.

"J-ville", as the city is known to locals, has a cost of living that is about 15% below the national average, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. There is no state tax and no retirement income tax. If you buy a house or condo in an assisted living or independent living community, you may receive a number of tax benefits such as a $50,000 homestead exemption; an additional exemption if you're over 65; and various exemptions for the disabled and military veterans.

If you want to be near the coast, Jacksonville has a number of assisted living options from Atlantic Beach, south to Ponte Vedra. Avante Villa at Jacksonville Beach, a nursing home facility was given "4 out 5 stars" by U.S. News and World Report's health care survey. It's just minutes from the coast. Independent Manor, an assisted living facility, is located in the historic Avondale neighborhood near the St. John's River. It's only a few blocks from Boone Park.

Among the area hospitals are St. Vincent's, Baptist Health, Shands, and the Mayo Clinic. With Naval Station Mayport at one end of the city and Naval Air Station Jacksonville at the other, retired military have plenty of additional healthcare options.

In a state known for its golf courses, this city shines with golf culture. The PGA Tour is headquartered in nearby Ponte Vedra, where the Players Championship is held every year. Add the course at Sawgrass, Amelia Island and over 70 other courses, and you have a golfer's paradise.

Among Jacksonville's popular cultural attractions are the Maritime Museum, the Museum of Science and History, the Jacksonville Riverwalk, the Ritz Theater and the Jacksonville Jazz Festival.
