Oxnard Retirement Communities

Located sixty miles northwest of Los Angeles, Oxnard is a less expensive option for assisted living. And it's a city with plenty to offer the active retiree. Before you start your assisted living search, read a little more about Oxnard.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Oxnard's cost of living is equal to the national average. If you already live in California, you know that taxes can be an income killer. While Social Security is exempt, all other forms of retirement income are fully taxed. In Oxnard, the average cost of a one-bedroom in an assisted living facility is $3,900 a month, according to a recent survey by Genworth Financial. The average cost for a private room in a nursing home is $245 a day; the average for a semi-private room is $208.

The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) is responsible for approving, monitoring, and regulating assisted living facilities in the state. To find out more about licensing and regulations, visit the CDSS's website.

Oxnard is home to over 20 miles of coastline so whether you want to lounge on the beach, go for a swim or just watch the boats come and go in the harbor, "The City That Cares" can accommodate you. Attractions around town include the Carnegie Art Museum, California Strawberry Festival, the Heritage Square the Elite Theatre Company, the Ventura County Maritime Museum, the Gull Wings Children's Museum, the Henry T. Oxnard Historic District, the Herzog Winery, the Seabee Museum and the Oxnard Independent Film Festival.
