Lexington Park Retirement Communities

Residents of Lexington Park may want to consider staying in a Lexington Park assisted living facility when it is time to retire. For those in the military who have called Lexington Park home for many years it is an outstanding choice. After all, Lexington Park is one of the nation’s fastest growing communities. When you need help with dressing, bathing and meal preparation, that help is available at an assisted living facility.

Residents of assisted living facilities in Lexington Park can be exempt from inheritance tax if the estate is being passed to a spouse or child. Others must pay a ten percent inheritance tax. Up to $1,000 can be left to anyone without any taxes being paid on that gift. The Lexington Park area is served by many hospitals including those in Baltimore, Maryland. The Sheppard Pratt Health System in Baltimore is one of the top psychiatric hospitals in the nation with special services for seniors.

While Lexington Park is a military community, there is much to explore in the community. Just across the bridge from Lexington Park is the historic community of Saint Mary’s City, the fourth permanent settlement in America. Historical reenactments are always happening at Saint Mary’s. Some of the most popular events are the monthly moonlight hike with a break for storytelling. St. Mary’s City is always doing something special, including Beerfest, Summer Faire and archeological digs.

Another wonderful day trip from Lexington Park is Solomons, Maryland, at the meeting point of the Patuxent River and the Chesapeake Bay. No visit to Solomons would be complete without a tour of Calvert Marine Museum. Make sure to leave time to visit the Drum Point Lighthouse, the only remaining screwpile lighthouse in the United States.
Many of the assisted facility residents in Lexington Park enjoy attending the Footlight Festival put on by the Newtone Players at the Three Notch Theatre. This theater puts on nine days of live theater performances each June featuring local playwrights.

Many of our residents enjoy attending the Lexington Park Oysterfest each year. This festival features the crowning of the National Oyster shucking winner and an oyster cook-off. The cook-off usually features contestants from at least ten states. National winners are crowned in three categories, hors d’oeuvres, soups and main dishes.
