This facility didn't follow Universal Precautions for prevention of cross contamination. I was placed directly adjacent to a patient with an active case of viral pneumonia, and witnessed staff cross contaminate multiple things in the room. They didn't consistently wash their hands or clean surfaces that were contaminated. The bathroom was visibly dirty. The sink was visibly dirty. The waste cans with hazmat material(adult diapers, etc) were uncovered and blocked access to the sink. The room was so crowded that it was a trip and fall hazard. They gave me a medication which I am not supposed to have and to which I am highly negatively reactive, and couldn't reach a doctor on call when I had a reaction. They wouldn't give me the necessary over the counter medication (Benadryl) which mitigates this reaction, which could have lead to anaphylaxis or death. There was no heat in the room, and nurses commented on how cold it was but did nothing to rectify it, which necessitated huddling in my down coat all night. The social worker was more concerned with retaining a patient/billing a patient's insurance, than in seeing that I was discharged properly at my request, when I left to safeguard my own health and safety. Thhey failed to transfer my prescriptions to my pharmacy, leaving me without access to my medications only three days post surgery. I had to go to the ER to get my medication prescriptions because they didn't follow through with what they said they were going to do, in writing, on the discharge forms. This was a miserable experience. They are rated 4-5 stars as a Medicare approved facility. I don't know what the criteria for this rating is, but it is not a clean, nor professionally run facility by any standard I personally adhere to. I will never go there again and feel very sad for those patients who don't know any better, can't advocate for themselves, or have no one to advocate for them. Abysmal.Proceed at your own risk.
