For golf there are Pittsfield Country Club, GE Athletic Association Golf Course and Berkshire Hills Country Club, among others. Onota Lake lies to the east of the city for boating and fishing outings. At the Canoe Meadows Wildlife Sanctuary there are opportunities for hiking, walking and bird watching, as it is maintained by the Massachusetts Audubon Society. The city also maintains more than a dozen parks throughout the city and many miles of bike paths. Further away there are Bates Memorial State Park, the Pittsfield State Forest, Pittsfield State Watershed Area and Balance Rock State Park.
