Unless you have hobbies that keep you indoors all the time, you will want to get out and have some fun. Luckily there is plenty to do in Alamogordo to keep you busy for a long time. The Lincoln National Forest is a good first stop for those new to the area. The Lincoln National Forest is a good place to cut down a Christmas tree when the season is right, but the view during the summer time is worth the hike as well. The lookout has a trail that you can climb which leads to an observation deck. On this observation deck you have a full and unobstructed view of the Sacramento Mountains and the vast plains on nearly all sides. The view is worth the few hours it takes to get there, just remember to bring a camera.
If you are more interested in golf than you will appreciate the variety Alamogordo has to offer. Desert Lakes Golf Course is one of the best places in the area to golf at. The service is great here and you can get on the green without a reservation sometimes, don’t count on it all the time as they get pretty busy on the weekends. They have a newly built clubhouse with a restaurant that serves amazing food. The course itself has been recently renovated as well, so the green rolls very nicely. It’s a good way to kill a whole day by golfing, enjoying good food and good company.
