For your Hartford assisted living facility (ALF) search, we’ve compiled city info, costs of care and tips on finding the right facility.

Sitting along the Connecticut River, Hartford may be best known as “The Insurance Capital of the World,” one of its nicknames. But there’s more to the capital than just policies and underwriters. Hartford boasts plenty of cultural attractions for their residents.

Visit the Museum of Connecticut History and see the finest collection of Colt firearms in the world from Gatling guns to shotguns to prototype weapons. See the state’s original manuscripts of U.S. Declaration of Independence, U.S. Constitution and Articles of Confederation. In the 19th century, two literary greats made their home in Hartford: Harriet Beecher Stowe and Mark Twain. Stowe, the author of Uncle Tom’s Cabin, spent the last 23 years of her life in the Gothic house that now holds a large collection of her writings, correspondence and artifacts as well as artifacts relating to feminist and African American history. The Mark Twain House and Museum is where the humorist wrote many of his classics such as Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn.

Other cultural attractions include the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts, Connecticut Opera, and the Hartford Symphony Orchestra.
